Comprehensive Area Property Information – a Case Study. (Page 1 of 2)

As a major supplier of strategic property asset management systems to the public sector, ATRIUM Software is constantly responding to the market. A major influence on the current market is the Government’s desire for the public sector to deliver more responsive services that represent better value for money, reflected in the Audit Commission’s move from Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) to Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA).

CAA looks across councils, health authorities, police forces, fire and rescue services and other bodies responsible for local public services. All these organisations are increasingly expected to work in partnership, rationalising and co-ordinating their services to tackle the challenges facing their communities. A vital ingredient in rising to this challenge is access to integrated property asset information that is separately managed by the constituent groups, enabling delegated services such as schools within a local area to be properly co-ordinated.

Below we describe one example of how ATRIUM, working in partnership with its clients, has enabled them to meet these important challenges.

ATRIUM was approached by Mouchel Group who identified a need to provide a ‘small client’ solution for their Education Authority clients, enabling them to manage planned and reactive work requested directly from a school or non-school property rather than the central office. This work, often referred to as ‘external’, has to be properly and consistently recorded, of course, but in the past it had been held in a variety of in-house systems, with no uniformity in the way the data was recorded or reported upon, and often no way of compiling data to provide comprehensive management information.
