ATRIUM sponsors Holyrood Conference, Page 1 of 2 ATRIUM recently attended the Holyrood Conference at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh on 28th October. The event was focused on Improving Scotland's Public Sector Estate and welcomed a total of 12 speakers. The day was split into 4 sessions with 3 speakers for each session. Session 1: Assessing the Condition of the Public Sector Estate Across Scotland there are a diverse range of assets under the ownership of local authorities, the NHS, education and the wider public sector. The state of these buildings varies between communities, with some excellent management, as well as much room for improvement. In this session we hear about the independent report into asset management in local councils and also Scottish Government policy, maintenance backlogs and the most important factor – the effect on service delivery Session 2: The Financial Challenge for the Public Sector Estate In the second session of the day we examine positive solutions to the economic and financial situation we all currently face and consider new and innovative funding solutions. We will also hear about the latest BSI standard relevant to estate and facilities management and consider the most important question of where to get the money for managing our buildings assets.
